Made a huge difference in my room temp
(Update 8.3.2024)One complaint. Because the new Bluetooth display goes in 0.1 increments (e.g. 64.9, 65.0, 65.1), the fans tend to rev up and down several times before settling in and remaining on. This makes it kind of distracting and often wakes me up because it goes up and down before remaining on. Other than that still a tremendous value. Maybe the makers can release a firmware update that has the temperature going in straight number increments instead of 0.1 increments.(Update 06/14/2024)As of this date, they still can’t vouch highly enough for this type of product. Through the winter it kept my rooms warmer where needed, and during the warm months kept my rooms on the second floor much cooler than without it. I recently purchased another one a couple of days ago because it had a 25% discount. I actually ended up getting a different model that actually incorporates Bluetooth and an app. That just made the value of this product jump up quite a bit. It’s model AC-RBF4-W. I’m wondering if it’s brand new in the model lineup because I can’t find documentation on it anywhere, but so far it’s been actually really nice having Bluetooth connectivity so that I don’t have to go down to floor level to adjust any settings if I wanted to. Plus it’s nice to see what the temperature in the room is without having to get out of bed. Super lazy person here lol. Anyway, if you’re on the fence, I can honestly say they’ve been worth it. Still happy with them and ended up buying four more after my initial purchase.(Original review)What I like:1. Works very well2. Easy to configure3. The digital display4. Easy to understand directions5. Can turn off the display once you’ve set it up6. Relatively quiet at lower speedsWhat I don’t like:1. It’s a little pricier than other brands, but so far it’s been worth it.First and foremost, for those who say the temperature settings either don’t work or are backwards, it’s just not true. Yes, you very well could have gotten a defective unit, but the vast majority of complaints are unfounded and rooted in ignorance of the function of the product. It is NOT a thermostat! It has a thermal probe that registers the temperature of the air coming from the vent. Therefore, if you want the product to push cold air during the summer, you want the fans to kick on when the temperature of the air coming from the vent is at or lower than the temperature preference you set. For example, my room routinely got as high as 78°F during the summer, so I set my cooling trigger to 72°, so any air that is that temp or below will be pushed into my room. My room now regularly stays around 72 degrees. Now the opposite will be true during the winter. My room can get very cold. As low as 55°. That’s freezing in the winter time. So I set the heating trigger to, say, 75°. That means any air coming from the vent that is that temp or higher, will turn the fans on to push the warm air into my room, thereby making it warmer quicker.Hope they helps those who have trouble understanding what the unit does. Just remember, it’s NOT a thermostat.

Have had this a little over a year now.. awesome!
This supplemental vent was definitely a great investment. Bought it May 2024 and it is still going strong July 2025. The app was easy to install and navigate. No hidden fees or anything like that. I like that it is flush and smooth to the floor, also has a nice look to it. The fan can get pretty loud if you set it to Max setting. The app itself is bluetoothed to your phone and very simple, as in the settings can be changed anytime, very easy to set to kick on around the time your AC or furnace turns on. I also feel like it does a great job “pulling” that remaining heat in the winter and cool air in the summertime from our vent systems after each session. (I have it set to run a little longer once my AC/Heat kicks off for that purpose). We use it in our living room, the room I feel is most difficult to keep warm/cool. Would highly recommend if you have a room or areas that could use a “boost” in temp control.

It’s a booster, not a temperature control, make sure you understand this before purchasing
The register does what it is designed for well, but you need to make sure you use it for its intended purpose. It is not a zone controller! The digital display on the register may be misleading. It may make you think that it is controlling the temperature of the room to this level. That’s not what it does. The register is intended to boost the amount of air that goes into a room. For that purpose it works great. The digital readout is the temperature of the air inside the duct (not the room). The register uses the temperature inside the duct to determine when the heat or AC is actually on. It uses this information to know when to turn the register on and off (boost the airflow).Typically, when the duct is not heating or cooling, the temperature in the duct is close to the room temperature. At that point, there is no use in drawing-in air. When the system is heating, for example, the temperature rises in the duct (mine goes to over 100 degrees). By sensing the duct temperature, the register knows when the system is heating or cooling – and knows when to turn on the fan to boost the amount of air coming out of the duct. I have mine set to 100 degrees, because my room shouldn’t typically be that hot. The temperature should only occur when the heating is on. Cooling works in a similar manner. To me, the heating and cooling set-points are purely there to sense when the heater or AC is on and switch on the fan to boost the amount of heated or cooled air into the room. Since the temperature in the room varies throughout the seasons, it is best practice to set the set-point above or below the natural room temperatures. If they are set within the typical room temperatures, the fan will come on and blow what is essentially air that is the same temperature as the room. The way to adjust how high/low the room temperature goes is with the fan adjustment. This allows you to adjust the speed of the fan, and thus the amount of hot or cold air that gets put into the room. It is important to note that this does not guarantee that the room will be a particular temperature, but it should be hotter/cooler than it was before installing the fan. The user would have to play with the settings to achieve the desired results. Luckily, there are separate settings for heating and cooling. The wiring is simple, and the power cord easily routes outside of the register. The fan is quiet on all but the higher level settings. It is easy to install and is of good quality. I was impressed with the way it was packaged.Mine did not have a Bluetooth option, but I really don’t see much of a need. Just another phone app that I would never use. Once you tweak the settings you should be good. If you need to change them, it’s pretty simple.

I want to start this review off by saying AC Infinity has some reputable products that work great! Like the rest of the reviews on here, I was looking for a way to bring more cool air into my baby room during the hot summer months and on fan setting 5 this thing did the trick! I do have a few things that you might want to keep in mind!Pros:- Pretty much everything that’s said in every review. It’s easy to install, fits perfectly, and delivers a bunch of cold (or hot) air to the room that needs it the most. The fan can be very quiet and I don’t find the loudest setting that loud (we have an air purifier that is 10x louder than this vent).- Customer service is helpful!Cons:- You can’t close this vent. There are instances where we had to close our vent because the room in the winter was too hot when the rest of the house is cold. Well, it’s not possible without purchasing a vent cover. Not a big deal but something to think of.- Everyone states programming this device is easy, which it is, but I find it’s not intuitive. You need to program the device for what the temperature of the room “would be” after the A/C or Heat are on at the temperature of the air coming through the vent. For instance, when the A/C is on, the temperature on the vent reads 10C and so I have programmed it to run whenever it hits 10 degrees Celcius not when it’s above 23C for instance. I find this way of thinking so backwards. I mean, when you set the temperature in the house you set it to what you want it to turn on at not what you think it should turn on at depending on the heat from the furnace. In my opinion, they should have added the thermostat externally to the vent to make this more intuitive.- There is a difference between the actual temperature and what is shown. In the picture, it states 24 when the room is actually 22… This adds to the confusion of programming. All in all, I think if you can get over the weird programming of this device it does work like a charm. It forces tons of air into the desired room bringing the temperature up or down very quickly to your desired temp.. In the end, I’m satisfied with the purchase as it does work exactly as described!

The 2 upstairs rooms at the front of our house have never had good airflow from the registers. These rooms get too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, so I decided to give register fans a try. I did a lot of online research and it was pretty clear that people were far more satisfied with these fans than other alternatives. I wanted to get these, but they were sold out everywhere. I waited for a few months and they finally came back in stock on Amazon. So glad I waited, it was totally worth it.I just installed one in my daughter’s room, and the difference in airflow was remarkable. I set the fan to 6 for now, and at that level the fan is essentially silent, but the boost in airflow is significant. The noise level of the fan increases beyond 6, but is not what I would consider to be problematic At fan speed 10, the noise level is probably similar to having a regular fan running in the room, but the airflow at that level is also probably more than we need.Aesthetically speaking, these register covers are beautiful. They look like high quality brushed metal register covers that you would buy just for their appearance. They sit flush with our floor, are super easy to set up (pretty much plug and play), and have a built in thermostat so you can set the fan to run only at specific temperatures thresholds.Winter is coming and we will see how much of a difference they make as it can go as low as -50C with the wind chill here in Ottawa, but I don’t see any downside to using them. Some people have said that they found little difference in airflow after installing these. If that happens to you, I would suggest checking to see if your ducts need cleaning, because we had ours cleaned last year and these fans make a huge difference in airflow, even at fan setting 6.

I purchased three (3) of these units for our kitchen/sitting area. This room has a wall of windows and 11 skylights, the three (3) 5” HVAC ducts located in the sitting area are inadequate to sufficiently heat or cool the room. The basement is finished so augmenting the HVAC would be quite obtrusive and expensive if even possible. I installed a kickspace heater under the kitchen cabinets about 5 years ago and while it works it is very noisy and the local mechanical thermostat is not very accurate. It is important to understand that these booster fan(s) redistribute HVAC from other parts of the house, so the rest of your dwelling will receive less HVAC given the total HVAC does not change in most configurations. The reduction in HVAC elsewhere is noticeable with three (3) of these units running at the default speed of 5 and today I lowered them to 4. They function as advertised, although I have no means of verifying the specs in terms of flow rate vs speed and noise levels. Level 4 is barely audible at a few feet, level 5 is acceptable and some people might be OK with level 6+, but of course that would depend on their use case. They are simple to install, the controls are easy to use, they restart automatically after a power interruption and the aluminum register covers are aesthetically pleasing. The only issue I had was trying to run them at a specific speed with both temperature triggers disabled, that only works if you leave the display on “Speed” rather than “Temperature”, so I set a “Heat Trigger” that cannot be achieved since I wanted all three to run a specific speed while enabling me to monitor the temperature of the airflows.

So I have a lot to say about these it turns out.I ordered two, to replace a pair of registers that heat two colder upstairs bedrooms of our pre-war home, and I know the duct takes a convoluted path, before popping up through the common wall. It always had poor air flow, even after we upgraded our furnace last year.So these boosters are now installed 4 inches across from each other, same duct, but the thermostats never match, and they are 3 to 5 degrees C higher than the max reading on my Laser thermometer says they should be. Normally woulnt care, but because they don’t even match each other, tuning the setpoints is extra challenging because I want them to turn on together so they pull air from the duct, instead off the opposite room. One is saying it’s 26 right now, but laser scanning register and duct reads max of 21, and room itself is about 17.5.The other thing I don’t like is how they glue foam to the cardboard packaging. Not sure why they do this but it is so annoying if you want to recycle your packaging (pretty standard these days, no?). One foam peeled out okay, but I literally to to scrape the foam out of the other cardboard package, where the glue seemed a bit heavier, and was pretty annoyed about it.One small grievance is that you can’t turn off the display (which is reading an incorrect temperature). White electrical tape will certainly work, but it just seems like a pretty easy thing that could have been programmed as a fifth menu/function. I probably would have given it an extra star for that alone. Also, why are the wire supports and tie-wraps black? Ordered a white unit. Wires are white. Baseboards are generally white. And I’m supposed to put this big black sticky wire support on there?Okay. Now that all that is off my chest, I can say what I like about them. These units seem very well constructed (except thermostat?). The design is really clean and I think they look way better than some of the other comparables. That is important if you have a character home (generally goes hand-in-hand with funky ventilation).I find the noise levels totally appropriate for the airflow they provide, and medium levels are on par with blower noise from passive registers closer to the furnace. No complaints here whatsoever.I really appreciated all the dimension information provided. It was super helpful for my design and making sure I could install these units in the way that I wanted. And, despite all of my gripes, they function pretty well so far (except the thermostat). Bedrooms and whole upstairs is warmer by degree or two already using rough settings (laser thermometer is priceless in an old home). Will still need tweak setpoint and fan speeds to fine tune and get working better, but I’m confident I should be able to balance the temperature between our two floors now.

This is absolutely the best product of this type you will come across. I have purchased it and installed it in one bedroom above the garage which has the weakest airflow. First I’ve tried to balance the airflow with duct work, but room was still hottest during the summer and coldest in the house during the winter. This product has completely resolve my problem and bedroom temperature is now well balanced. Fans are quiet at speed 5, and have good flow, at speed 4 and airflow is similar as the other bedrooms and fans are completely silent, since the product is installed above the garage I have speed set at 5. The hot air triggers the fans ON at 27c (80F) and the cold at 25c (77F), that seems to work fine for us and fans are not running for extended time when furnace or AC are OFF. If I adjust the trigger temp to lower setting fans start to spin sooner and are running for longer periods. It works like this, the furnace starts running, and temperature goes up quickly on the register display. At 27c fans start running and then temp goes up fast to 33c (91F) on display when furnace is running at full blast, and hot air flow, once the furnace stops the air cools off, and at below 27c fans turn OFF. I also installed Ecobee thermostat with 2 remote temp sensors. Temperature is now very well balanced across rooms and my gas bills was $20-30 cheaper per month, but then carbon tax took the savings.Update, Jan. 2022.Everything works as described above, fans got slightly louder after a year, but still run perfectly. I would like to buy another unit as a backup in case it is discontinued.
